Erica Freeman

Erica Freeman graduated from California Lutheran University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering. While attending, she studied the mechanical properties of collagen and fibrin scaffolds for wound healing. She also presented her work at multiple conferences, including The Society of Biomaterials as well as The Wound Healing Society.

In 2009, Erica became a member of the Bioengineering PhD program at the University of California, Riverside and is now under the mentorship of Dr. Anupama Dahanukar; together, they are researching the cellular and behavioral responses of contact chemosensory neurons in Drosophila melanogaster. At present, Erica is interested in quantifying temporal features of feeding behaviors in Drosophila through the use of video bioinformatics.
