Brett Bays received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. As an undergrad he focused on cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, statistics, and logic. He entered the PhD program for Psychology at UC Riverside in 2010 under the mentorship of Aaron Seitz. His primary research involves mechanisms of learning, specifically perceptual learning and statistical learning, and imaging the neural processes behind these mechanisms over the temporal dimension to discover how the processes change over different time courses. The development of new data analytic techniques for electroencephalography, techniques which would incorporate patterns occurring in the temporal dimension to a higher degree than is currently done in most research, is also of primary interest.
